Sub-Zero Refrigerator

Sub-Zero 590

Model # 590

Sub-Zero refrigerator repair

The 590 is a 500 Series built-in refrigerator/freezer with an automatic ice maker and a through-the-door ice and water dispenser, plus door closers on both the refrigerator and freezer doors. It’s no longer produced, and the refrigerator and freezer controls sit inside the refrigerator section on the left-hand side.

A door that no longer pulls fully closed onto its gasket is one of the most common issues on a 590, and it can also explain a control panel reading a temperature the cabinet isn’t actually holding — a seal problem shows up on the display before it shows up as spoiled food. Separately, a dispenser delivering no water, or delivering it slowly, usually points to the fill valve or supply line rather than the refrigeration system.

FAQ

Sub-Zero 590 FAQ

A door seal that’s no longer sealing fully is a common cause of a panel reading that doesn’t match reality on this model — worth checking before assuming the sensor itself has failed.

Inside the refrigerator section, on the left-hand side — not on an exterior panel.
