The 249R is an undercounter refrigerator/freezer. Sub-Zero’s published specification for it lists manual defrost, freezer compartment with two cube trays, interior light and interior freezer light, removable wire shelves, one-piece interior. It is a discontinued model — it belongs to the retired 200 Series. Out of production does not mean out of service: this generation is still in daily use in kitchens that have not been rebuilt around it. The 200 Series guide puts the serial number on the inside cabinet liner at the top, read with the door open. Ventilation clearance at the grille is the first thing lost when a kitchen is refitted around a unit of this size, and it is the most common root cause we find.
